Tips for Choosing the Right Chair for Computer Workstations
Seat Height
The chair height should be adjustable. At the seats lowest position, your
feet should be flat on the floor; at the highest, your knees should angle
up.
Arm Height
Choosing the right armrest can reduce shoulder, neck and back strain. Look
for a chair with a short armrest and try to avoid putting pressure on your
elbows. Too much pressure may cause nerve damage and
unwanted discomfort.
Lumbar Support
The chair should have lumbar support. The contours in the back of the chair
should mold to the natural curve of your spine.
Tilt Control
Make sure that your seat is not flat. Tilt your seat forward so you can lean
into your work. This position may feel awkward at first but places your
spine in a natural position. This will help to eliminate lower back pain.
